How Fit Are You?
The President’s Challenge: Adult Fitness Test is located at www.adultfitnesstest.org. Click on the Take
the Adult Fitness Test: Are You Ready? Start Here button to complete the fitness test. Next, click on
Enter Your Data Online Here on the left-hand side of the screen. After completing the Adult Fitness
Test, keep the window open, scroll to the bottom of the page, and review the information under Improve
Your Scores to answer the following questions.
1. On your results page locate the heading Improve Your Scores. Click on Aerobic Fitness
Interpret and Improve. Based on the information provided, how can you improve your aerobic
fitness?
I definitely need work on this area. I need to step up the pace of my walk and do it more
frequently. While my heart rate seemed ok, my time was not great. I am going to start by
increasing the frequency of my exercise and then work up to the proper amount of time. I have
become lazy over the winter. Now that spring is here I will be able to do more activities, such as
swimming and definitely more walking.
2. Click on Muscular Health Interpret and Improve. What suggestion is provided to improve
your muscular strength?
This area I was very good in. I was in the 85%. I could work on this area a little, but I felt that
overall, I was within the parameters for my age and exercise regime. I could add equipment and
make larger goals for myself.
3. Click on Flexibility Interpret and Improve. What can you do to improve your flexibility based
on the recommendations listed?
This area is another that I need work on. I need to stretch more and become more agile. Again, I
Need to work on the time spent on these exercises. Right now, honestly, I only do this once a week. Need to increase
the frequency and maybe change up what I am doing in order to keep it interesting.
This test motivated me to join my local YWCA in order to utilize their facilities, even in bad weather, so seasons
should no longer be an excuse to not exercise.
