DATABASE ANALYSIS 2
Database - Analysis and Query
1. A well-managed database has several benefits to an organization in the management of
data. These include:
Greater Data Security
DBMS safeguards data from unauthorized access that can lead to data destruction,
misuse, and unwanted exposure. Organizational data are therefore safer when managed
using a DBMS.
Data Consistency
DBMS holds every data item only once and in case updates, it is done once for all
systems. These reduces errors due to data inconsistencies in systems of an organization.
Data Independence
Data held in database systems are in such a way that that changes made to the
structure of the database system do not affect the programs that are used to for data
access. Thus data reliability is enhanced.
Control over Redundancy
Non-database systems often have many same information held on many files.
Redundancy wastes storage space and makes data updating more difficult and time-
consuming. Redundancy challenge is minimized using database thereby saving cost and
time.
Enhanced Integrity of Data

Centralized data control DBMS allows database administrator to control and monitor access to the system’s data thereby making data management easier.
