American Culture
Culture originated from the material conditions of human life, and the basis of every
culture is found in evolved biological dispositions. Culture can also be seen as an outcome of
humans creating the conditions for survival. Typically, individuals get their sense of self from
the cultural group in which they were socialized into and brought up (Dreachslin et al., 2012).
Culture provides people with the diversity and values of the world around them. It helps them
perceive how other people behave and think. People from different cultures perceive and see
things differently. The difference in points of view is most likely due to how their culture molds
the way they see the world. The American culture is analytic or individualistic and depends on
the law of non-contradiction and the use of formal logic.
My culture affects the way I view things in that it guides me in evaluating and
interpreting events, behavior, relationships, ideas, and other people. The American culture is a
culture that consists of different religions, diversities, ethnicities, and races (Woods, 2018). This
culture changes my point of view on different things by nourishing me with political correctness
and the spirit of competition. The American culture also tries to impose freedom of speech. The
culture instills in me the concept of equality. All people are regarded as equal and the American
Declaration of Independence agrees with this; the belief of equality is deeply rooted in my
cultural values. Through my culture, I can view everyone with equal standing. Every time I see
public displays of disrespect and inequality among native and non-native Americans, it makes
me uncomfortable. The American culture also instills directness in my behavior and way of
perception. I always value openness and frankness in my affairs with other people, thanks to my
culture. I believe that there is no better way of solving disagreements and conflicts other than
incorporating forthright discussions among the parties involved.
