The flat world, according to Friedman.
Friedman implies that the world is indifferent in the competitive playing field of
industrial and emerging market countries. The events for this case result from the downfall of
communism, that is, the emphasis placed on fiber-optic telecommunications and the succeeding
subcontracting of engineers registered to fix the underlying problems (Wade, 2018). However,
people are only aware of the beginning to feel and understand the full implications of fixing
these problems. Friedman interprets this nature of the world as being flat, enabling readers to
make sense of the ever confusing act recounting amongst individuals and allowing them to get
the implication of all countries, companies, and communities nature of being flat. Generally, the
emergence of technology is the primary reason for the flattening of the world.
Additionally, Friedman's implications of the flat world are further linked to the alterations
in how businesses transact, denoting changes that are both sobering and frightening (Wade,
2018). However, the invention of technology later doubled the exponential rate; hence data could
be transmitted, circulating necessary information across the globe. Notably, the advancement in
technology influenced more collaboration and competition of people in real-time. The world has
become a global village where people from different parts of the world can conduct business
with much ease. Unlike before, the emergence of the technology enables intellectual work to be
dissected, distributed, returned, and re-assembled via a given online tool, including mail.
Given the above perspectives of flattening the world due to the emergence of technology,
the flattening forces, including political events, innovation, and companies, are primary
contributors. Uploading, outsourcing, workflow software, the collapse of the Berlin conference,
and offshoring are the flattening forces of the world (Wade, 2018). People no longer purchase
essential software from the uploading perspective but instead download them free from the web.
