Events that led to the end of the Cold War
Many events contributed to end of the Cold War, and their virtual significance is bare.

First, America’s Economy developed much stronger than the Soviets. As the Cold War
advanced, the capitalist system of America and the West surpassed the central planning of the
communist economies severely. The US could easily build up and meet the expense of military
technology, moreover, set out the weapons and excellently trained soldiers at calculated positions
around the world. On the other hand, the Soviet Union was deteriorating further and further, as
their communist economic system was real down. They could produce neither cutting-edge
weapons nor consumer goods. Increased occupants of the communist nations recognize d their
system was falling with the advance of mass communication.
Secondly, Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 is one other noteworthy factor in the end of
Cold War. America gave hand to the Afghan resistance, often referred as freedom fighters. One
core weapon that the US supplied to Afghanistan was the Stinger anti-aircraft missile. This is one
kind of weapon that downed many Soviet aircraft, thus, prevented the Soviets from make the
most of their air pre-eminence. America forced the Soviets to so much strain in the war; they
would pay a growing cost in lives and money over the next decade.
The challenge that President Ronald Reagan issued in June 1987 to the Soviet Union when
