Introduction
Nursing has been a practice of providing health care services since the known
civilizations and it is giving sensitive care, protection and treatment to the patients in the time
of temporary and permanent illness. Nursing is the profession in which a professional nurse
performs medical procedures for the treatment of patients according to their respective
medical health history. The role of a medical nurse in a healthcare setup plays an important
role in maintaining the health care system and the nursing department is considered to be the
face of any healthcare system in any setup because the professional nurses are the staff who
directly impact the effectiveness and efficiency of the healthcare practices and the overall
performance of the facility, they are working in, such as hospitals, nursing homes,
ambulatory services etc. one of the most important and fundamental practices of the nursing
profession is the family nurse practitioners.
Nurse applies family theory in playing different roles in different setup but she is
mostly responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of various illnesses, professional
preventive practices for different diseases under medical specified situations. Family nurse
practitioners generally carry out the basic check-ups, health related evaluations and
assessments of patients, and screening or/and immunizing patients for medical assessments
are also included in the practices of a family nurse practitioner. Family nursing practitioners
also play an important role in coordinated services to cure prolonged.
To better understand the role and setting of a family nurse practitioner FNP, it is
necessary to understand the whole span of FNP’s academic life to find out the
professionalism and grip over the knowledge of nursing profession. There is a vertical

education setup for family nursing practitioner with a wide range of certificate, diploma,
degree and masters level course which are necessary by law to become a family nurse
practitioner.
Family theory practice purely fits in clinical setups where, their job descriptions and
responsibilities are inclined more towards the planning and development of remedial
techniques for chronic diseases and acute illnesses. The FNP also helps patients to change
their lifestyles with healthy foods and exercises rather relying mostly on medicines but in
serious cases, the FNP ensures that she has prescribed enough medicines for the patient to
prevent the recurrence of the diseases. FNP plays and important role in promoting the safety
of patients from the diseases, unhygienic lifestyles and unhealthy foods, moreover, she helps
in severe medical conditions to devise healthcare strategies for certain patients who need
them the most.
