VALUE OF CRITICAL THINKING
While thinking refers to any activity of the mind whether done consciously or
subconsciously, critical thinking is more complex. One can only think critically when highly
conscious. Critical thinking is normally goal directed. It is skilful thinking that is used to censure
change. Critical thinking is influenced by something, could be an occurrence, an event or a
problem. Therefore, critical thinking revolves around a certain issue or reason.
Critical thinking is a very important aspect of human life. It helps human beings co-exist
amidst each other in unity, peace and love by making us social beings. This is the one thing that
separates humanity from bestiality because of the sense of reason which animals do not have.
Critical thinking is what makes our moral standing right or wrong.
For instance, the child you see at the pond crying for help should be your first thought
one you see the predicament they are in. you may not have a moral obligation to save the child
but you leaving the child there could be an ostensibly morally wrong decision. Critical thinking
demands that we have value for human life. This being but a mere helpless child, you have a
duty to assist them since you have the means and are capable. Reason would have it that you call
your boss immediately after saving the kid and explain that you will be late since you have a
valid reason. As for the dress, a mere $200 is not worth letting a child die over. Critical thinking
will make you think into the future, this child could in future give you more than a dress or who
knows the miracles that can be worked.
In the case of the child who could be dying in Africa, you do not have a moral obligation
or a moral decision to make. Yes you may be in a position to help them by sending the money
but giving is a mere will of the heart. Yes it would be right and very much good to help them, but
