4 Physics Questions:
1) Torque is the amount of a twisting force that is applied in order to cause a rotation.
2) Equation for torque: T = F * r * sin (θ)
T = torque, F = linear force applied,
r = distance measured from the axis to where the linear force is applied
θ = (theta) the angle between F and r
An illustration:
Force (F) is measured in Newtons and the distance (r) is measured in meters, therefore,
torque is measured in Newton-meters.
3) Equilibrium of a rigid body is a state in which an object is not accelerating at any rate.
There are two conditions for an object to be considered in a state of equilibrium:
1. The vector sum of the forces on the rigid body must equal zero.
2. The vector sum of the torques on the rigid body must equal zero.
4) A rigid body is a body in which the relative positive of any two points des not change.
When the sum of all torques acting on a rigid body equal zero you get the coordinate for
equilibrium.
The distribution of particles on a rigid body along with their weight are displayed below:
Each particle (n) above has a weight of W

, where i = 1, 2, . . . n and located at coordinate

opposite direction from each axis.
