Weight loss is a process that most people who are overweight and obese need so as to
reduce the risks associated with being overweight. Such risks include heart attack, stroke, high
blood pressure and diabetes. There are various types of weight loss programs which can be
implemented by an overweight person to reduce their weight. The various types include
commercial chains, internet based weight loss programs, health club based weight loss
programs and worksite and corporate wellness programs. Self-help, medically supervised,
commercial chains and internet based programs are the best programs since commercial chain
programs involve weight loss training and lectures concerning proper diet while internet based
programs involve watching and learning from video clips and instructions that have been posted
by professionals.
The best programs that one should adopt are the self-help and internet based programs
since they are cheap and can be carried out at own time and without much supervision. There are
various proposals in these programs which show that they are the best programs to adapt and
implement during weight loss. The programs involve research where research is a very important
and since the program is based on health matters then it must be a medically based program
hence the research conducted in a successful program should be based on medical facts (Drohan,
1998). The studies that the patient should conduct should be focused on the health related
benefits and consequences of the steps in the adapted program. Therefore the person must
research on proteins and vitamins which are necessary in burning fats.
The other key feature in these programs is the long term research that ensure that the best
strategies are put in place so as to ensure that the person undertaking the program has applied the
best strategies towards weight loss. The person has to adapt the best eating habits and partake
