TRADE-OFFS 2
Trade-Offs
It is important that the negotiation process is characterized by strategies that are sound.
The negotiator needs to be prepared all the time before they go into the process and this is to
ensure that they solve the conflict in an amicable way. To avoid the use of mediation and
negotiation, the negotiator needs to be candor and open this means that they have the information
that is required of the process. With clear information the parties will not feel like they are in the
dark. The negotiator should also be patient (Blum, 2014). It implies that they should find means
that will make sure that the arbitration and mediation are not used in the solving of the dispute.
The negotiator could use tradeoffs such as offering the parties something of interest to ensure
that they are all satisfied and the process is shortened. The negotiator should be in a position to
compromise on what the parties would want to settle and at the same time realize the risks that
are involved with the process.
The methods that are effective in negotiations include the integrative method of
negotiation where the two sides are working towards making the negotiations work. Different
situations are considered to ensure that the process is a success and they also ensure that
relationships are fostered (Blum, 2014). Alternative dispute resolution is also an important
negotiation process that utilizes the process of resolution and the mediators are involved in the
process to ensure that the solution is agreeable to all. The process ensures that both parties are
satisfied.
