Gifted Education
The aim of Minnesota gifted education statutes is to create an opportunity for gifted
learners to access education optimally as another kind of learners (Revisor of Statutes, 2015).
The law empowers learning institutions to develop programs that will enhance the impartation of
learning to learners. The law prescribes that school administrators will develop programs, hire
staff and equip the staff. As the law suggests the state identifies the need for institutions to be
streamlined with the gifted learners in mind. For school administrators, this need not feel like a
witch hunt or victimization. However, there is a need for administrators to understand that
compliance with provisions of the Minnesota Statutes on gifted education will be pivotal in
giving gifted learners a solid learning foundation.
There are many ways that an administrator can fulfill these obligations. First, the number
of gifted learners has to be established within an institution. This will help the administrator in
determining the resources that will be dedicated to their education needs. There is also the need
to train the trainers or teachers who will be dealing with gifted learners on ways to deliver the
curriculum effectively. This will ensure that the learners will effectively harness their gifts
adequately and interact effectively with their learning materials. Second, the administrator must
learn from the best practices by visiting schools or institutions that have achieved this milestone.
This will give the administrator a rough picture of what is to be expected in terms of costs and
sustainability. Lastly, it will be appropriate for the administrator to work closely with policy
makers and government officials because this is a nationwide initiative with the objective of
ensuring inclusive and representative educational system. This is evident in a State like Ohio
