The bank puts in medium effort in inspiring

the people. The teams formed in the

academy by the employee’s boosts their

confidence as they interact with clients.

Developing leaders

A high effort is put towards creating

leaders. In the academy, the employees

are able to create teams where they are

able to connect and improve their

leadership skills. Also, they train new

managers on problem solving and how to

turn mistakes into learning opportunities.

Empowering employees

x

The bank has invested money and time

into empowering its own employees. The

three level training given to the employees

in the Academy helps to improve the skill

of the employee’s and helps to improve

their performance at work. Moreover, the

training is done to prepare employees to

other roles in their career.

Accumulating and sharing

internal knowledge

Although the Bank is focused on employee

empowerment, there is less sharing of

challenges in the working environment and

how mistakes can be a learning chance for

both the management and employees.

The basic equation for risk is defined as R = ƒ(C*V*T) where R is the level of risk, C is the consequences (public health, our economy, government action, public confidence in our institutions) of an attack, V is an assessment of the vulnerability of a potential target (how hard or easy it would be for it to be hit by terrorists) and T is the threat or the likelihood that a specific target will suffer an attack or disaster from a specific weapon. The Department of Homeland Security has stated that it will apply risk management principles to homeland security operations and has stated that “Ultimately, homeland security is about effectively managing risks to the Nation’s security” (DHS 2010, 2). Drawing upon your class readings and additional research, examine how risk management is used by the homeland security enterprise and the many benefits derived from such activities as resource allocation, strategic planning, grant funding, or any other homeland security-related initiatives.
