The most important information/key concepts we need to understand from these chapters
are:
Chapter seven in Beyond Stress seeks to have us connected to the world in a positive manner.
The chapter identifies self object relationships, a restless mind, laziness as well as a lack of will,
and doubt and low self esteem as challenges that hinder us from maintaining a mindful presence.
According to the authors, it is not possible to enjoy adoption of the mindful way with such
challenges, a thing that will see us accept what life brings our way. The authors identify the first
step into overcoming the challenges as accepting that we harbor ill will and are full of remorse
and regret, willingness to stay inactive after which we decide not to condemn ourselves any
more. We should be curious with our minds’ state and understand that relationships are very
important in our lives. The chapter teaches that it is hard to change a behavior but we can
monitor our relationship with our thoughts to ensure that our thoughts do not fully control our
relationships.
How can I use the information in the chapters to help me with my daily mindfulness
practice?
I can use the information I have learnt from the chapters to improve my relationships with others.
Since I have learnt that not being able to change my behavior doesn’t spell doom to me, I can
seek to have control over my thoughts so that my relationships improve.
