INCREASED TECHNOLOGY IS A THREAT TO PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND
NATIONAL SECURITY.
I support the assumption that increased use of technology is a threat to public administration
and national security. For instance, the infrastructure of the internet is one of the biggest
administrative and national assets that are possible targets of attack by scammers or even
terrorists. Given the public administration and national security imminence and significance
of the internet, there are two methods that are geared toward minimizing technological threat
toward internet attack.
1. Interoperability and Collaboration: use of integrated systems is important in achieving
cost-savings, collaboration and overall effectiveness in internet monitoring and
security. According to Baggett and Simpkins (p. 18) when individual networks,
agencies and organizations are monitored and information shared it is possible to fully
achieve situational awareness and organizational efficiency.
2. Implementing Smart Transportation and Infrastructure: In line with Baggett and
Simpkins (p. 19), in many instances around the globe Smart city initiatives are being
launched as they anticipate better government efficiency, community service as well
as increased public safety and awareness.
