Strategies teachers can use to monitor student
Teachers have a number of options to explore when assessing how properly their students
understand the lesson material taught in class. A teacher should always ensure that the students
grasp everything they are taught. In addition, this allows them to know how much progress the
teachers make with their students. As such, they can use a number of means in checking how
properly these students understand their teachings in class.
These strategies include, participating in an oral question and answer session between the
students and the teachers on the subjects previously covered or even the ones being taught in
class. It is normally done by a teacher asking students questions to see if they understood the
subject previously being taught. This enables a teacher know just how well the students
remember what they learnt.
The second strategy is using questions set as an exam. This could be a RAT- Random
Assessment Test, CAT – Continuous Assessment Test, or a major exam. It is normally done in
class under the supervision of the teacher on the question set from the previous topics that the
teacher had taught. Some of these exams are early informed to student like the continuous
assessment test and major exams, while some can be so abrupt in that a student is not made
aware that there are exams to test their ability when not prepared how they can perform. An
example of such a test is known us Random Assessment Test.

The third method is through assigning activities or assignments to these students on
topics already covered at school or in class. This includes giving these students assignments and
homework whereby they attempt a few questions concerning the topic taught. Sometime
questions are twisted slightly from the way they were taught in class and given to students as
homework to see how they handle such questions by their own.
Finally, the other method that teachers can use is refresher questions before the beginning
of a new class or topic on the previous topics taught or learnt in class. This is done by asking
students the same questions that had been previously asked in class to see if the students still
remember those questions.
Monitoring system that you could use regularly in your classroom for students who are
more likely to have difficulties with classroom assignment.
The most effective monitoring system for regular use in class rooms to monitor students,
who have difficulties in classroom assignments, is the alternative procedure that students can use
in self-monitoring and self-reporting. Classroom performance is that whereby they go through
tests and experiments to evaluate each level of their performance. The students can create a
standard grid, or table which they evaluate their performance according to the standards pre-set
on the given grid.
