I aspire to become an excellent public relations officer with the ability to impact the
business domain. Public relations plays a critical role in an organization because it is the anchor
of communication between an organization's internal and external aspects. However, the journey
to success is not spontaneous, but a day by day process that needs understanding. According to
the video resources provided, building a personal image demands dedication and passion.
However, building a brand and developing a name, opportunities for growth and development
usually open up. It is important to seize these opportunities for personal benefit and
development.
Besides dedication, it is essential to be keen on benchmarking and be willing to learn
from others. Knowledge is power. Therefore, as an aspiring transitional public relations officer
and manager, I should also be willing to engage and interact with others who have achieved in
the same area of profession. Personal branding is also another critical aspect that plays a
significant role in self-development. Branding can happen in different ways, i.e., through social
media, over the internet, and physically among many other approaches. It is also essential to be
keen on understanding your audience prior while developing a brand. It is a fundamental
approach to ensuring that one remains relevant.
The significance of first impressions is another critical component that needs
understanding when it comes to self-development. It defines how people view and think about
you. Before a presentation, the first impression one would define whether the audience would be
attentive or not. As an aspiring public relations professional. I equally look forward to building
and improving my first impression before the audience I previously identified. The reason that
makes the first impression important is that it would last beyond the moment.
