Question One
1.How the Telegraph, Steamboat influenced American society in Antebellum United
States
The antebellum era refers to the period before the American Civil war. The invention
of the telegraph enhanced communication during the period between the north and the south.
Moreover, it was the most affordable way of communicating during the period. The invention
of the steamboat on the other hand, helped in the transportation of raw materials such as
cotton. The latter reduced the time taken to deliver goods to the market. The two were
important in economic growth of the country during the era.
2.Innovations before The American Civil War
The innovations majored on before the civil war were based on sound and imaging
techniques. These innovations included the invention of the Phonautograph by Edward de
Martinville around eighteen fifty-seven. The second invention around the time was the
Phonograph which was patented to Thomas Edison and lastly the Gramophone by Emile
Berliner. A gramophone relied so much on the invention of electricity to produce sound.
3.Debate: Translation as an Innovation
Translation is a form of innovation. I maintain a strong stance on the latter because
innovation involves creating new ideas as far as technology is concerned and translation is
the key to the latter argument. Moreover, the movement of innovation itself is dependent on
the characters of people through the sands of time in relation with how they modify
information and how they react to the same information.
4.Photographers in Civil War and Gilded Age
