Introduction: On September 11, 2001, one of America’s greatest tragedies took place.
The president at the time, George W. Bush, delivered a speech that set hope in the eyes of

On September 11, 2001, one of America’s greatest tragedies took place. The
president at the time, George W. Bush, delivered a speech that set hope in the eyes of
frightened Americans. That morning, four planes were high jacked and flown into the
World Trade Center and The Pentagon, killing thousands of Americans. At the time,
mass panic arose, which is why George W. Bush’s speech is one of the most important
speeches given.
Although he did not know the full extent of the situation, George W. Bush gave
his speech with integrity. He was elected president on January 20, 2001. Most of his
presidency was criticized for him being on vacation for the majority of the time.
Although not a favorable president, his approval ratings soared after his 9/11 speech. That
morning when the first planes hit, he was at an elementary school reading to children.
When he was told about the second plane, he immediately left and contacted the U.S.
Airforce.
This speech was given at 8:30 p.m. on September 11, 2001 in the Oval Office at
the White House. After gathering evidence and spending the entire day with the airforce,
the president still managed to get a speech together, which I think is the reason it was so
short. It was only four and a half minutes long, but the powerful words he spoke made
American feel a bit calmer about all the terror happening around them. Even though he
did not fully understand what was going on, he explained it as best he could. This may
have been a good reason for his reelection when his term ended.
The speech began with the president explaining what was happening. He
explained how our way of life had been compromised and talked about what type of
people were involved. He made the nation aware that they were terrorists attacks, and
