Description of a program, project portfolio, and a project
With regards to project management, a program refers to a group of related projects that
are managed together to obtain the desired goals. The projects or sub-projects are coordinated
with a view to obtaining the benefits that would be lost when they are administered individually.
On the other hand, a project portfolio refers to a group of projects and programs that are grouped
together and managed from one point so as to achieve the objectives of an enterprise. Finally, a
project refers to an organizational activity that is temporary and different from the usual
operations of a company and aims at coming up with a new product for the institution
(Schwalbe, 2016).
The relationship between project management, program administration, and portfolio
management
The relationship that exists among the management practices is that all of them usually
share a common goal. The project, program and portfolio managements are all intended at
improving the operations of an institution by creatively developing new concepts to improve the
functioning of the organization (Schwalbe, 2016). All of them employ the management of related
activities from a central point so as to increase the chances of success.
Contributions to enterprise success
Project management contributes to the success of a company by making sure that an
organization selects only those activities that will add value to its commercial interests. The
