Information security standards entail best practices regarding information security
management systems. This standard is indicated in the ISO 27001 and organizations that are
accredited with it means that such organizations are complying with information security best
practices. Most organizations use information systems in their operations and practices. For this
reason, standard organizations continue to define information security standards so as ensure that
other organizations comply with local and international regulations regarding the use and
applications of information technology (Evans, 2016).
Standard organizations, also known as standards bodies, are organizations whose integral
roles are establishing, interpreting, or designing technical standards that are anticipated to
address the issues of other parties.in other words, standard organizations are responsible for
setting information security standards. These standards are required to be followed and adopted
by companies operating in different industries. Standard organizations are importance because
they ensure that information systems and security standards are enforced in organizations and
that relevant security policies are designed in the organizations. The aspect of installing and/or
implementing security policies in organizations so as to govern the use of the company’s
information systems and networks are some of the tasks of standard organizations.
