Power of Art 1: Caravaggio
The power of Art is a documentary series produced by BBC, presented as well as scripted
by Simon Schama. The video depicts that during the time of Caravaggio artists were gifted their
talents by God to bring in beauty to the community or the world as a whole as well as induce
moral values to people in the world. As a result, the souls of many individuals would be changed
and act according to the community’s expectation. However, the video clearly shows that this
was not the case by Caravaggio because he never performed anything in the manner that it could
be done. In his painting regarding the triumph of virtue over the evil, it is likely to be David who
is perceived as the essence of attention. However, the jubilant victory is rarely seen (Simon,
n.d.).
There are some interesting facts in the video; to some point, it demonstrates that humility
can conquer pride. One is likely to realize that this is a fight that has been contended out inside
the head of Caravaggio between the two sides of the portrayed as well as the painter. Ideally,
Caravaggio’s power of art seems to be the power of the truth, and not about the community
people themselves. Then people should begin conducting themselves by the community’s
culture. In so doing, everyone would hope for redemption by starting to recognize that Goliath
accomplishes with the David (Simon, n.d.).

Interestingly, Caravaggio was perceived being dangerous; he did not lack commissions.
Caravaggio got jailed severally, as well as murdered a person in a duel and was ordered to go
away from Rome or else he could be killed. After the incident, he traveled to Naples and
eventually to Malta, where in reality, he became a knight. He could always try to make some
paintings in seek of pardon. For instance, he did some art in paintings to give to the Pope’s
guidance in requital for pardon over his past actions. Unfortunately, on his way back to Rome,
Caravaggio got jailed, abandoned by the boat, and demised of a fever (Simon, n.d.).
In consideration to culture development, when Caravaggio reached Rome, the art
primarily composed of awesome paintings of the apostles, Mary, as well as Jesus. This made
Caravaggio develop a belief that Jesus was human, who is made of blood as well as flesh. He
began to paint Jesus in that manner, making individuals more physical as well as earthy.it is a
technique that had never been undertaken before. He further took his models from the brothels,
street, as well as the street. In so doing, he completely changed what the painting could do in
Rome, bringing the viewers into a painting that always made them more uncomfortable, since it
was against their culture development. Eventually, most of the paintings started a shift to realism
with a close theoretical utilization of lighting. The artwork was no longer secure and did not
serve the cultural values it could serve as the previous years. Therefore, the material is important
in demonstrating how the ancient culture of art and belief developed in the Rome community
through such ways as illustrated by the facts above (Simon, n.d.).
