In 1995, the company offered its initial public offering (IPO) and subsequently listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In the same year, the company acquired Zentaris, a biopharmaceutical company based in Frankfurt, Germany. Later in the same year, Aeterna Laboratories acquired Zentaris GmbH based in Frankfurt, Germany and transformed Aeterna Laboratories from a one product company to a company with 20 products.
