Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Repositioning is an article done by Tom Defloor and
colleagues explaining the repositioning of patients after two hours to reduce pressure ulcer. The
authors discuss the tradition method of repositioning and combination of repositioning with
pressure reduced measures. In their explanation they indicate that the two hour repositioning is
better than five or more than two hours. This is because the 2 hour repositioning it helps reduce
the pressure and ensure the patient is confortable. From this article it is indicated that Knot et al.
carried out a research in which they found that patients who were in a position for 1 hour were
more comfortable than 2 hours (Defloor). In conclusion, it can be noted that five hours
repositioning is effective for the nurses and not for the patients.
Frequent manual repositioning and incidence of pressure ulcers among bedbound elderly
hip fracture patients an article written by Shayna Rich and colleagues showed that two hours
repositioning was effective than five hours repositioning (Rich).
