Influences such as determinants of health and socioeconomic status:
Essentially, the association between poor health and socioeconomic status is well
detailed in the existing literature. However, evidence of the relationship between gastrointestinal
infection and socioeconomic status is limited. This implies that the mechanisms that underlies is
not well understood, which has results to conflicting data. Evidence strongly suggests that social
gradients in the health outcomes. In other words, there is a higher level of premature death and
illness in society experience. Socioeconomic inequalities are primarily linked with both
consequences and causes of diseases. These inequalities are well detailed in illnesses of non-
infectious nature such as cancer and coronary heart diseases. There is also the evidence of
incidences of infectious diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus and tuberculosis, which
varies by social groups (Mogill et.al, 2014).
Past and present initiatives to addressing the infection:
It is imperative important to note that healthcare-associated infections are the
typical diseases that patients get while undergoing treatment for surgical or medical conditions.
Many various healthcare centers employ different types of procedures and invasive devices to
treat patients. It should be noted that infections can associate with the devices and procedures
during the medical procedures such as ventilators or catheters. According to research, these
infections are the major cause of mortality and morbidity and they are primarily associated with
higher increase in healthcare cost in the United States (Zimlichman et.al, 2013). The studies have
shown that implementation of the preventive practices to HALs can result to 80 percent
reduction in the infections. Other studies point out that substantial decrease in bacteria such as
MRSA can be achieved through coordination of activities between healthcare facilities. The
