Leadership is something that might seem simple but it is not. It requires a person to have certain
traits that will enable them to be able to handle the different types of employees. It is very
frustrating as a leader to feel like employees are disrespecting them. It is therefore a leader’s
responsibility to make sure that they are able to control their employees. In the represented case
of this manager it is a hard task but every situation has a solution.
It is understandable that the manger choose to go soft on the employees because of the harsh
treatment he received as an employee. Even though it is understandable, the manager needs to be
enlightened between the difference between a work place and the responsibility of a manger. It is
clear that the employees lost the respect for the manager and became ignorant of the freedom the
manager gave them. They come up with excuses that are not worth being given off days. Due to
this behavior the firm is experiencing difficulties and the manager has to do something. If I was
the manager I would do the following to ensure that I return the order and work ethic in the
company;
I would call a meeting that would be mandatory of every employee to attend even those that
were sick. The meeting would be announced two days before its day so as every employee could
attend. After all employees are confirmed to be in the company, I would clearly state the reasons
