a. ‘Locating digital business services inside a company, in comparison with
outsourcing to a cloud provider.’
Hardware Cost
One of the disadvantages of location companies' digital business within the company in my opinion
is the hardware cost. It needs initial investment to purchase the equipment such as routers, servers,
cables and other devices which can help to manage the information. On the other hand, storing the
business in the cloud will not require any special equipment since they provide their own set of
tools and include the cost of it in their fees. However, the fee cloud providers charge will be way
cheaper than investing in-house equipment. Furthermore, because small companies have
simplified information technology requirements, data centers do not often provide the same level
of operation. In-house solutions will be cheaper and more practical for these companies.
Security
The cyber threats are getting more complex and more difficult to block or counter. In an IoT
environment, new vulnerabilities will emerge almost overnight, making it a virtual hell for IT
departments to keep up with the latest threats. The organization's management team should have
the technical staff and computing capabilities to stay on top of the new risks. On the other hand,
though, data centers in cloud platforms have greater security device protection and technical staff
ready the issues arising from these kinds of threats (Vault Networks, 2017).
Backup & Recovery
The concept of data-centers has it built in that data can be readily restored and applications can be
replaceable in the event of a major incident is part of their architecture. Getting the machine up
and working with little to no downtime is their primary goal. On the other hand, when you store
your data locally you have to manually backup your data and in case of emergency is very hard to
restore.
Scalability
When a business decides to provision its cloud computing system in-house, it must weigh all of its
options. The majority of corporations have a long-term view, but none of them goes far enough
into the future. Though storage and other services are bought, new products or smarter applications
may be incredibly difficult or financially impossible to implement. Once resources are allocated,
there is no need to change the cloud services (Vault Networks, 2017).
b. ‘Companies should always use an ‘opt-in’ private policy for: emailing prospects and
customers; monitoring website visitors using site analysis software; and identifying
repeat visitors using cookies’
Email Opt-In
Normally when a company sends the email to customers when they opt-in, the only email a
customer is going to find in their virtual inbox is spam, therefore they won’t bother for immediate
reply even if you're meant to get information from certain people. Opt-in email doesn't work just
because it is more impactful. This is much more considerate. Keeping your mailbox full of
undesired emails is likely to damage your reputation. People are resistant to most of these
messages, including the fact that about 269 billion emails are sent each day. It's best to stay out of
the majority. You're trying to build a relationship with your customers and enlist their confidence.
Website Visitor Tracking
Website traffic monitoring is a valuable tool for gathering insights into the website visitors. Among
the most widely used website visitor monitoring techniques, only Real-Time Analytics can provide
real-time insights. This has many advantages for corporations. Revealing the identification of
guests adds to the marketing process by encouraging an already involved lead to form an
immediate relationship with the company (Lead Forensics, 2019).
Better Customer Experience
When you're in a dynamic market, customer service may be the difference between success and
failure. Once you get your audience mapped out, you'll get a great picture of your whole site's
results. Learn what your customers are searching for, and where they end up clicking as they find
it on your blog. You will edit the site to keep your guests happy. Personalizing follow-up calls and
emails with site details about visitors' previous visits will help you increase your leads.
Managing Data
With better data access comes a greater understanding, but also comes more accountability. It's
critical that B2B marketers maintain their commitment to data enforcement with the GDPR,
though its implementation initially created some uncertainty, but putting consumers' well-being at
the center of all you do would be a great boost to the team's efforts. When deciding on a growthboosting tool, do a rigorous testing to be sure the app is consistent with the needs of your results.
You will also need to follow data laws when executing the follow-up plan, handling, keeping, and
maintaining data, and procuring the required data.
Cookies
Cookies are one of the most secure and user-friendly ways to store data on the internet. When you
visit a platform, it provides you with a nice experience whether you allow or disallow cookies.
Whenever you return to the same place, you will have the same content. There will be many issues
if you don't use the server without cookies (Curvearro, 2019).
2. ‘You are being hired by a logistic company as their corporate planner. At the current
moment, the company hub is only operating in Kuala Lumpur. And the management have
the intention to have 100 more hubs throughout Malaysia within 2 years.’
a. ‘Create an idea based on the requirements: the mission statement, the vision statement,
the objective, the long-term goal, and strategy to achieve the goal’
Mission Statement: To deliver quick and reliable service to each and every customer by offering
unique value and providing a professional logistic solution.
Vision Statement: Connecting businesses and communities to a better future through our logistic
service.
Objectives
● Increasing Efficiency
● Rapid Response
● Reduced Transportation and Logistics Cost
Long-Term Goal
Order arrival times are critical for consumers today's markets; whether they are met has become a
question for logistics providers. Due to the complex and vast number of electronic commerce
requests, the time for these firms to move items between fulfillment centers is one of the greatest
challenges in the industry (Ran, Zhang & Liu, 2017). Therefore, the long-term goal would be to
have 100 hubs throughout Malaysia within 2 years.
Strategy
Appealing locations for logistics facilities would have plenty of opportunities and capable
personnel. Students must also be trained to gain a sound understanding of supply chain
management practices as early as they start working in the workforce, fostering and expanding
their pool of future business leaders. Transportation and logistics will provide many educational
programmes that will prepare the workforce. Many schools across the new logistics centers would
have supply chain management training programs.
Incorporation of geographic advantages is critical when it comes to distribution and logistics, as
businesses will desire a central location for efficient fulfillment and regional sourcing. Companies
can take stock of their inventory levels, as well as their locations and their sourcing requirements
as they look to balance their current demand with current demand growth. Logistics facilities in
Malaysia are offered by several third-party vendors that provide modular warehousing and other
supporting services. It is crucial that a city's internal transit and economic-expanding capacity to
work together as an effective partnership (Ran, Zhang & Liu, 2017).
b. Based on the above proposal, create a report using Michael Porter’s classic model of
the five main competitive forces that affect the company for reviewing threats arising
in this digital business era.
The entry of new competitors
It's completely obvious that digital technology is increasingly altering the competitive landscape.
Nowadays, it's not just the big guys in the industry that you have to be wary of; it's even the younger
people from everywhere, who are able to take advantage of new emerging market models and
values. Often entrepreneurs and large tech firms and small firms have innovated and developed a
new business model for digital business with the help of a new technology marketplace ecosystem.
Creative use of social, electronic, Internet of Things, and even personalization are being added to
their solution as they improve the value proposition of their platform.
The threat of substitutes
If alternatives exist, so there is the threat of substitutes. A substitution can take place in the form
of a digital model or a combination of a digital model and a physical one One positive aspect of
the digital apps for customers, such as Grab, is that they offer a mix of traditional and alternative
methods for delivering items. When the car goes to a specific location and picks the item for
delivery.
Personal goods or automation technology which is connected to a digital service can provide a
wide variety of approaches. It can be argued that there would be a much greater return on the
income from the long-term investment on the digital services than on the one-time selling of the
physical commodity.
Most people are frightened of alternative products so they are easily persuaded to keep their
purchase and certain items are complementary; this increases the danger of alternatives. Customers
can quickly move from the old model to the current one by downloading an app in the app store.
If the delivery gets too long for example they simply would recall the item they ordered and
download another app to fulfill their requirement.
The bargaining power of buyers
Since the modern businesses derive the greatest influence from market demands and customers'
desires, the most powerful of the five powers is the bargaining power of the buyers. This newly
acquired bargaining power is setting new digital consumer priorities that include standards at all
levels of an organization, systems, goods, and services. Because of how customers have gained
access to valuable knowledge, how easy it is to find replacement goods, how low the cost of
converting to another provider is, and the fact that customers have become more cautious, they
have gained bargaining power.
The bargaining power of suppliers
The supply side of a digitally driven business model may be expedited or decelerated based on
their personal results. The development of APIs to handle current and new relationships can help
accelerate your company's conversion to a digital model.
Additionally, those who provide the old models, and those who are evaluating and identifying their
position in the digital model, may use their economic leverage to constrain or challenge the
integrity or legitimacy of the new design.
Businesses who want to stay ahead of the competition by implementing innovative strategies but
still adhering to rule of law, governance, data protection, and safety will succeed. This is a
beneficial move since it gives customers a bargaining power that holds them accountable to other
vendors and sellers.
The rivalry among the existing competitors
Competitors are all facing digital market change, learning the ins and outs of it, and preparing for
it. a number of responses from passive to aggressive to first-mover attacks Competition with others
is never far behind, and the e-business age has made it more active in recent years. With digital
business models being cheaper, new entrants don't even need to have physical assets or
infrastructructure. The “platform” model has proven extremely popular in the industry due to the
simple manner in which it connects various partners and often implements a number of secondary
functions to meet the customer's needs. It enables them to be at the forefront of distribution, even
though they don't own any money or have workers who are in the business.
