The following report was compiled after a review of the notes between me and my Host
Teacher. Getting feedback from students on a lesson is an important part of learning. After
getting feedback from the learners on the lesson, certain adjustments were made to enhance
understanding. One of the noticeable aspects of the feedback the students gave on the lesson
pointed towards the difference in knowledge grasp. This implied an existence of unique
individual needs among the students. To address this, an adjustment was made on the teaching
approach. This was done to ensure that the weaknesses of individual students were addressed
more effectively.
Another adjustment that was made in the lesson was reconstitution of the learning groups.
Students who have stuck with the same group tend to develop a tendency to act in a certain way.
To reorganize the learning groups frequently ensures that the level of interaction improves and
the students get to experience more diversity. This improves their learning as the monotony of
the having to work in a specific group is replaced by the enthusiasm of exploring new groups in
subsequent classes.
The effect of the learning experience on the individual students was different from that of
the group though they all work to enhance learning. The individual students managed to get the
most out of the alteration of the teaching methodology and approach. The reconstitution of the
groups ensured that the individual students can get to interact widely and experience learning
through different student perspectives. According to University of Wollongong assessment policy
(2002), “under less than ideal conditions, group work can become the vehicle for acrimony,
conflict and freeloading”. This is why the learning experience focused on ensuring that the
groups work in harmony while getting the best out of the individual students. It is therefore the
