Motivation, Job Satisfaction and Work Performance
Every organization has an aim to succeed in the market they are in and they employ all
strategies to do so. They place a lot of value on the employees because these are the people who
help the company fulfill its visions, missions and goals. They set policies and structures at the
work place that will help them be able to motivate the employees to perform at the highest levels.
Work performance is at a high level when the employees are highly motivated and the
employees are highly motivated when they experience job satisfaction.
Motivation
This is the process of stimulating and inspiring people to act towards the achievement of set
goals. It comes about by creating an environment that is suitable and giving employees
incentives among other things. Employees can also be encouraged to source the motivation
within themselves because it is an inner state of being that dictates the way they act. If
motivation exists in an organization then work will be efficient, increasing the performance at
the work place and this translates to the success of the organization and the achievement of
company goals.
We can view motivation of employees that leads to increased job performance in two ways:
Extrinsic Motivation
This is the ability to perform or engage in certain or all work activities with the
knowledge of certain external rewards, the rewards can either be tangible or intangible. An
organization can use this type of motivation and set certain rewards that will be given for the
completion of certain tasks or achievement of certain goals within the company. This can go a
