INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
To: Mrs. Rolanda H. Gallop, Instructor Florida Institute of technology
From: Jack Powel, Sales Team Manager
Date: February 25, 2014
Subject: REQUEST FOR A NEW AD
Recently, you created a unique challenge last month in the annual general meeting when you
stated the projected sales goals for this financial year- an increase of 25%. Thus, you asked us to
consider ways in which we could reach the set goals. The outcome led by my team, started an
ongoing discussion of creative ways to meet the challenge.
I have recently received numerous complaints regarding the ad there has been used for
spearheading the radio shack commercial. This commercial aspect heavily relies on the internet.
The use of internet has repeatedly surfaced in these conversations. The company’s website has
sufficient information about the company, the product line and our dedicated service attitude.
Hence, a number of clients have commented on the professional, well- designed outlook of the
website. Thus, many recommend on the ad since it directly brings the product to them.
Last week, I sent a survey asking about any ad related problems that may be arising.
Questionnaires were used to collect the required information. The survey heavily emphasized on
getting information from the teenagers and middle aged people since the company considers
them as potential future clients. Major questions that were asked included;
Do you like the ad?
Can you recognize the people in the ad?
How many people in the ad can you identify?
Would like the company to replace the ad with new faces?
Would like ordinary people to be involved or local celebrities?

A total number of a thousand people were surveyed from a wide region which the commercial
covers. Here is a brief summary to the responses from those surveyed:
65% of those surveyed liked the ad, whereby 17% did not like the ad, 10% actually did
not know whether they liked the commercial ad while the rest never responded to this
question.
50% of the population surveyed could recognize the people in the ad
Out the 50% that could recognize people in the ad, only 25% of the faces used could be
identified.
75% suggested that the company should replace the old faces with vibrant young new
faces.
Only 38% of the people surveyed suggested ordinary people to be used in the commercial
ad, 49% suggested for new celebrity faces to be used. 15% could not mind either being
used while the rest actually remained neutral.
Given this information, I best believe it would be fine for the company to replace the old ad
Hence, even if the resources of the company may be limited at the moment, there are
several ways which this could be done without affecting the commercial aspects of the ad
Thus, my close relationship John McCarthy, a local internet consultant, who projected that
improving the ad capabilities to our company’s website would pay itself within two or three
months. Also he could be an asset to the improvement of the ad
With our goals in mind and this potential client growth, would you grant me the authority
to write a request-for-proposal to develop and expand the current ad to include new celebrity
faces? Our company suppliers are holding a sale this month and are offering a two season
legal supply for radio shack commercial services, plus more than a hundred free seasonal
tickets for the national football league. Hence, this could be perfect time to improve and
replace the ad
