Weight loss is important to daily health. In order to better manage weight, weight loss
program will be created. Through daily exercise the goal of the target behavior is to result in
weight loss. The self-management project is a valuable tool for assisting in these weight loss
goals. Through understanding and tracking the exercise progress, the level of weight loss can be
better measured. The baseline measurement provides information on the current exercise abilities
in order to measure future exercise abilities. The dimension of the baseline will be the length of
time of exercise while the function of the behavior is to lose weight.
Target Behavior
When setting goals to change behavior, the first step to understand the target behavior.
The target behavior is the behavior that is set to be changed (Martin & Pear, 2011). The target
behavior in this case is a lack of exercise and consuming too many calories through unhealthy
eating. Weight loss occurs through healthy eating and exercise but in this case only exercise will
be measured to determine success in increasing level of exercise overtime. My current eating
habits are unhealthy requiring a drop in calorie intake and a steady increase in levels of exercise.
Weight loss is imperative to current and future health. By exercising on a daily basis the level of
exercise will slowly increase. The ultimate goal is exercises of 45 minutes, five days per week
and a calories drop to 1200 calories per day.
Dimensions of Measurement/Baseline Measurement
The amount of calories consumed every day will be measured as well as the level of
exercise. Every day the actual calories consumed will be recorded after the last meal as well as
any exercise for the day. The original baseline will be used to determine my level of success in
