In the era of 21st century, companies do not need to adopt the traditional structures

because now the organizations are moving so fast and traditional structure is rigid at the time of

making own decisions. Companies are moving towards boundryless or virtual structures. The

downfalls of adopting the traditional structure are that they are hierarchical in which power flows

upward and vertical and employees have to follow a chain of command. In the current rapid and

internet driven world, this is downfall because an employee has to follow the complete chain of

command to approve a purchase and it is time-consuming. This structure is much closed and

cannot be controlled by the environment without interacting with it. Traditional structure is

stable and rigid and it requires a long time to change that is why the organizations cannot survive

in the competitive environment where changes are occurring day-by-day. There is no

cooperation and teamwork in traditionally structured organizations where employees have to

follow the commands of the manager and manager is controlling the decision-making.
