STAFFING PLAN 2
Staffing Plan for a Growing Business
As the Human Resources Manager of an expanding technology company consisting of
170 employees, it will be essential to develop an effective staffing plan in order to ensure the
company’s success in fulfilling the government contract to gain additional contracts in other
states. The HR manager will need to identify the best staffing model for the expanding
technology company and predict the major potential legal issues the growing company could
face. The HR manager will need to identify the specific tasks involved in developing formal job
descriptions and deter the frequency in which job descriptions should be reviewed. Lastly, the
HR manager will need to develop methods to deal with high employee turnover and suspension
panning to ensure there is an availability of employees with required knowledge, skills and
needed abilities.
Staffing Models
Model One
Strategic staffing and the Staffing Quality Person/Job Match models are two approaches
which can provide the most benefit for the expanding technology company. Strategic staffing
employs a combination of short term, long term, and succession planning to properly staff an
organization. The strategic staffing model allows the company to evaluate staffing levels to
determine staffing needs. The staffing needs can then be filled through a combination of short
term, long term, and succession planning. If the evaluations identifies long term needs then long
turn employees will be located but if the need is seasonal, a short term approach would be
applied to staffing.
