STORY STRUCTURE EXERCISE 2
Story Structure Exercise
The Ill-Timed Dream
Jack was now in the organization for five years. Many employees had come and left, but
he felt contented with the working conditions of the firm. He had no reason to quit his job unless
a better offer came his way. He wasn’t alone in such terms. Liz had also worked approximately
the same duration as Jack and seemed never to give up on the job. Despite working in the same
firm for long, the two didn’t know much about each other. But Jack in the first encounter felt Liz
was attractive though it was just in the procurement office when they were picking some
stationery. How would he meet her again? He recalled that the company was holding a ceremony
the coming Friday for the improved profits earned the previous year and that would be a perfect
time.
He got to the party early. You would think he was one of the organizers and chose a
perfect table. “Could you sit at my table?” He asked her when she arrived. He got the most
eagerly awaited answer as she accepted the offer with a smile. He had to initiate conversations
that would break the anxiety between them. Luckily, the lady was more outspoken, and they
shared a lot while taking drinks. He got to an exhilarating mood when they danced together.
During the dance, he made the wildest proposal by requesting the lady that they spend the night
together in his place. He didn’t get an answer but after the party, she joined him in his car. Little
did he know what would befall him that night!
