Define and explain the importance of the following computer security tools / commands /
services:
a) Arp
Address resolution protocol (ARP) is a telecommunication procedure used to change a
network address into a physical address that is acknowledged by the local network.
b) Dnslookup
Dnslookup is the process of looking up an IP address of a domain or host on a certain
network. This helps to determine the destination of the ongoing data.
c) Ipconfig / ifconfig
Ipconfig is an application used to display and control the network settings of a computer.
It displays the current network connection details and DHCP user settings. It displays the full
configuration information and releases the IP address for the particular adapter. The ifconfig is a
system administration utility used in the system startup scripts of operating systems.
d) Metasploit
Metaspoilt is a security project of a computer that offers information about security
problems and helps in IDS signature advancement.
e) Msconfig
Msconfig is a system designed to assist in troubleshooting of a computer. It also ensures
that a computer does not boost slowly and does not crash all the time. It speeds up the Microsoft
startup process of the machine.

k) Nmap commands
Nmap command is a security tool used for network exploration and security auditing and
scanning. It allows someone to scan large networks to determine which hosts are available and
the services being offered.
