Examine the challenges related to the evolution of formal organizations. How does the
changing nature of work benefit (or hinder) the employee?
Answer:-
Changing nature of work allows the people to be creative i.e. the people can present their own
ideas about how to achieve a particular goal. These unique ideas can create unique things and
these unique things can make the employee of an organization successful. The changing nature
of work also removes rigidness and promotes flexibility. This means that every person in the
organization can work in groups or can work individually on any assigned task and the people of
the organization can give suggestions for further improvement to the employee and in this way
an employee can be benefited a lot.
Identify each stage of Erikson’s Eight Stages of Development. Determine which stage you
currently fall into and why. If you do not think you fall into any, then theorize. Briefly
explain yourself.
Answer:-
The Erikson’s eight stages of development are as follows:-
1- Trust vs mistrust
2- Autonomy vs shame
3- Initiative vs gulit
4- Industry vs inferiority
5- Ego identity vs Role Confusion
6- Intimacy vs isolation
7- Generativity vs stagnation
8- Ego integrity vs despair
Out of these eight stages I currently fall into the sixth stage i.e. intimacy vs isolation. I am 27
years old and I no longer want to be alone. So it’s time for me to be involved in a relationship
with someone i.e. to make commitment with the person whom I like and want to spend the rest
of my life with. Doing this successfully will lead me to the virtue of love and my relationship
will be comfortable.

Describe four benefits of the “McDonaldization” of society. Provide three examples of how
this has benefited our society as a whole.
Answer:-
The four benefits are as follows:-
1- It is fast therefore efficient.
2- It is consistent, therefore it has uniformity.
3- It is the same everywhere in the world, therefore it has predictability.
4- It is rigidly controlled through automation.
Automatic teller machines, automatic hatcheries, and laser scanners in grocery stores are the
latest examples and these machines make it easy, quick and reliable for the people to accomplish
their task. In this way our society can achieve prosperity.
Examine the role of the family, schools, and peer groups and their influences on the
presentation of self. Why might someone present themselves in a different manner within
each of these groups?
Answer:-
Family is group of people that know you very closely and there are no rules in presenting
yourself in front of them i.e. you can wear any dress, you can freely express your feelings and
you can have long hair .In a school there might be rules depending on the school you are in. You
might have to wear blue colored shirt with grey trouser every time you step inside the school.
You might have to cut your hair a bit, you might have to come in proper shoes not in joggers and
also wearing shorts might be allowed. In peer groups you might wear something expensive and
unique in order impress others in your peer group. So the conclusion we draw from this
discussion is that in each of these groups someone might present themselves in a different way.
Examine the social constructs of feeling, gender, and humor. How do these relate to the
presentation of self? Provide examples that show the correlation between the influence of
society and how we present ourselves.
Answer:-
When a person is feeling angry and in this mood he goes to meet a friend of his then the friend
might be able to judge your anger by the way you talk i.e. you might use harsh words. When
considering gender i.e. when a person is male of female the presentation of their self differs by
the fact that they might have different way of dressing, way of expressing their emotions and
their way of speaking. Humor can make your presence be felt amongst the audience i.e. you can
make them laugh instead of sleep. People then might say that he is an amusing person.
Examples that show the correlation between the influence of society and how we present
ourselves:-
Example 1:-
If we are living in a society who’s trend for centuries has been to wear cloth that will make you
look like a gentleman i.e. by wearing coats then a person might also follow the trend and wear
coats.
