In the wake to eradicate hunger and ensure food security the United Nations initiative on
the family farming year 2014 was a major development. This would ensure that the governments
and other stakeholders in faming have taken charge in farming process. This would be through
enacting policies that supports the woman and youth engaging in farming in the way of ensuring
that there is equitable and sustainable development throughout the faming processes.
The main topic under the united nation purpose on the family farming year is
empowering the youth and women. The two groups are the most vulnerable in all nations and
they create the future generation. The topic also discusses how the two groups can get access to
credit and control of the family funds (un.org). It is evident that the family farmers mainly
consist of the women and the youths and hence should be able to involve them in creating the
future of family farming. The other main issue is on creating a food entrepreneurs and scientist in
matters concerning agriculture. The other topics include the measures that the family farmers’
organizations and governments can take to ensure that there are equal rights among the young
farmers and youths. These will help in creating initiatives that will strengthen the future of
family farming.
