CONTRACT ACQUISITION 2
Contract Acquisition
A small remote control aircraft business is ready to expand your business by competing
for Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. Currently, we wish to bid on a contract that will be
worth over $600,000 to the business. Since this is a federal government bid, the easiest way to
bid is through simplified acquisition methods. This is mainly because many federal contracts are
set aside for small firms and are more efficient. In particular, we chose to bid through purchase
orders (Engelbeck, 2002). Simplified acquisition methods are usually meant for small dollar buys
but they are also used for the purchase of commercial items priced up to 5 million dollars. The
government of the united State reserves purchase of goods or services through simplified
acquisition for small businesses as long as the contracting agent receives bids from at least two
small companies, like the aircraft company.

model number of the product, quantities ordered, types of services or products ordered, date of
delivery, specify free on board destination, any trade or payment discounts and are issued at
fixed prices. A purchase order does not exist until it is accepted, and should also include the
relevant clauses (Federal Acquisition Regulation, 2014). The contractor, in this case the aircraft
company, must certify the delivery of the aircrafts and that they shall maintain, replace and
correct any faulty aircrafts or aircrafts not received or damaged while in transit.
This selection is best for the company because of the fast payment procedure since it
allows payments to be made electronically if it was provided for in the contract. This procedure
