sigma strategies. Lean systems help in eliminating wastes associated with production while six
sigma function is to improve on quality production. Lean six sigma, therefore, reduces the

the current economic setup forces organizations to adopt systems that cut production costs and
still meet competitive advantage through quality. The 21st century has seen an evolution to the
lean six sigma that reflects the changing needs. Advancement in technology is crucial in today's
performance improvement. Technology allows the integration and analysis of large data sets and
the use of metrics that form a reliable decision-making process (Smith & Manna, 2019).
Technological advancement help in optimization of performance through process analysis that
was not previously possible.
Current trends in today's performance improvement highlight the increased training of
lean six sigma specialists. Organizations have embraced lean six sigma application in operations
and eliminating system errors. The dynamic nature of business requires organizations to embrace
continuous performance monitoring and improvement of the system. Performance improvement
systems used have undergone evolution from the focus on lean systems to the integration of lean
six sigma systems in data analytics. The future of lean six sigma presents a challenge in
performance improvement. Lean six sigma systems have worked well in manufacturing
Companies, but integrating into other business like office set up may require more analysis.
