Sustainability is a critical issue for consideration in this generation. It is an issue that

should be integrated to all life aspects. Think of how the world will look like in the next 5

decades. Possibly, there will be more crimes, overpopulation, more pollution, less tolerance in

the society, and a variety of other overwhelming negativities. However, no one needs such a

future. People need an environment in which they feel safe and get enough food every day. We

all need a world where neighborhoods are safe with clean air and water. This can be realized only

when people will embrace sustainability practices.

The sustainability event by Charity Hicks seeks to enlighten people on the topic of

sustainability. It seeks to inform on the best practices that will ensure a safe and clean

environment in future. The world has undergone robust development and growth. Industries are

coming up in a daily basis. Consequently, the natural environmental is getting polluted and

degraded. Disposal of industrial waste is continuously polluting rivers and other water bodies.

People are constantly clearing forests to get more land for cultivation. The air is full of carbon

dioxide and other toxic gases that are threatening to increase the greenhouse effect. Although

harmful, industrial growth and development will not stop any time soon. The global population is

increasingly growing, creating higher demand on finished or processed products. This means

that, if not controlled, pollution and environmental degradation will continue into the future.

Therefore, I think that the sustainability event by Charity Hicks is a good plan to protect our

environments for future generations.

With the current trends in industrial development, much needs to be done to guard the

environment from pollution. People need education on what causes pollution and what needs to

be done to minimize it. Schools need to integrate curriculums that emphasize teaching and

training for a sustainable future. The sustainability event provides people with this opportunity.
