Contracting Process Paper
The contracting process entails a set of procedures that define the processes followed
when conducting a high-level procurement for projects. It details the accurate manner of
managing high-level procurement projects to achieve success within the project constraints. This
paper argues that conflict resolution techniques must be implemented from a buyer’s perspective
in dealing with sellers. The paper also argues that creating business relationships is beneficial for
all parties involved. None the less, the KPI’s used to measure the efficiency and quality of the
products should be used alongside other factors to facilitate risk management.
Steps for Conducting Project Procurements
The process of conducting project procurements goes through high-level process steps
beginning with the development and approval of the list of items to be procured. This step is
executed collectively by the purchasing department and the project manager who are responsible
for approving and specifying items that the external vendors would be expected to supply
(Fleming, 2019). The next step entails selecting the most qualified supplier from the list of
vendors following a criterion that was set in the first step. Among the criteria used to select the
vendors is the capability of the vendor to deliver the suppliers in terms of the speed of delivery,
quality of the product, the cost, and experience and performance in other similar projects.
The third high-level step is the contracting phase where the project manner sets the
delivery dates and then outlines the schedule of payment for all deliveries. Next, the contract
procurement is subjected to control through evaluation and monitoring of how the contracted
vendors are discharging their obligation as specified in the contractual agreement (Fleming,
2019). During this phase, the project manager calls for several follow-up meetings with the
vendors to deliberate on the progress of the procurement process in terms of the quality and
