I agree with you that most logical fallacies are applied to exaggerate or create persuasive
statements. From most of the examples I have gone through, fallacies are inclined to appealing
to specific members of the audience in an attempt to advance a specific agenda. In most cases,
they are used in the media, politics and social settings to support arguments that lack evidence.
The example you give of a smoking ad noting that most doctors smoke Camel compared to any
cigarette, it is clear that the company intends to convince both smokers and non-smokers to
shift to their brand. The use of dubious authority is evident, as despite the expertise of the
doctors, they do not have the authority on the issue of which cigarette to smoke and are
consistent in citing the dangers of smoking. The use of actors and celebrities to endorse cars also
falls under this category as they lack the expertise to recommend any car.

I also find distractions to be the main hindrance to timely writing. Hence, in quiet
environments, I find it easier to focus on my assignments and get them done. I agree with you
that understanding distractions is one of the best ways to fully be aware of them and address
most of them. I also believe, with the best environment, I can come up with the best work. The
other practices I do is breaking up big assignments into small manageable parts and having
breaks in between. For me I also have to plan for the breaks as having the wrong activities can
lead to distractions, which can be carried on to the next session. Hence, I like less engaging
activities like taking a walk or nap as it makes it easier for me to resume after a break. Great
