Leno & horses
According to the First Homicide Investigation Progress Report, Leno owned racehorses:
Quote
To the family's astonishment, it was learned after Mr. LaBianca's death--he owned nine
thoroughbred race horses, including Kildare Lady, one of the more prominent horses.
(The full report can be found here: http://truthontatelabianca.com//index.php?topic=286.0)
These horses were stabled at the Santa Anita Racetrack. There are some well-known mafia
figures who are also connected to this racetrack:
Bugsy Siegel: When he got to Hollywood, Siegel looked up an old friend from Williamsburg
who had made it big in the movies: George Raft, who was known for his gangster portrayals.
He and Bugsy had kept in contact with one another over the years and formed such a mutual
admiration society that it wasn’t clear whether Raft’s screen persona emulated Siegel or
whether Siegel was styling himself after what Raft portrayed in the movies. Together, Raft
and Siegel became regulars at Santa Anita Racetrack, wagering huge sums of money on the
ponies. Raft also opened the door to Siegel’s first West Coast racket.

Carlos Marcello and Mickey Cohen: Carlos Marcello had remained good friends with L.A.
mobster Mickey Cohen since they both had appeared before the McClellan hearings. By 1968,
Cohen was in prison, having waged a full-scale war with the Dragna family for control of the
rackets in Los Angeles, including the major racetracks that were all hooked into the Marcello’
s wire service and bookie network.
Sirhan Sirhan, the alleged killer of Robert Kennedy, worked as a groom at the Santa Anita
race track controlled by Cohen, who had also been a close friend of Jack Ruby, the gangster
who shot Oswald dead. Ruby was part of the Civello set-up in Dallas that was controlled by
Marcello. That Robert Kennedy’s brother was himself shot dead in a city that was controlled
by a close friend of Carlos Marcello, who was more than likely the immediate boss of the man
who shot the man who shot the president, has to be surely more than just a coincidence.

Harry Cohn and Johnny Roselli: Cohn returned the favor to Roselli in 1937 when the hood
had an opportunity to buy into the Santa Anita race track with Bugsy Siegel for $20,000.
Cohn gave Roselli the money to make the deal and, several months later, when Roselli gave
Cohn a check for the $20,000 he borrowed, plus interest, Cohn refused to take the interest
money, and insisted that Roselli rewrite the check just for the balance owed. Roselli took the
difference, and, reverting to an old Italian custom, purchased two matching rings, star rubies
in gold which would symbolize their friendship for life. Roselli wore one and gave the other
to Cohn who wore it with pride.
Then Roselli got locked away for his role in the Bioff scandal, his name was poison in
Hollywood and after his release from prison, Cohn, like so many other people in the business,
didn't want anything to do with Johnny Roselli, in fact, when Roselli needed Cohn to put him

on the payroll so he could get parole, Cohn refused, claiming that the studio's investors would
balk.

The Kildare Lady
The Kildare Lady was one of the six thoroughbred racing horses that Leno owned at the time
of his death. This horse is the only one mentioned by name in the police report. Apparently it
was quite a good racer, judging from these news articles:
July 4, 1968: The Kildare Lady wins
