The reading of surgeon ‘general’s articles’ reveals the important effect of obesity on our

children. I have conducted a thorough research on the topic and find out that it is regarded as an

epidemic in America. I like the news report that covers true facts about the reason behind of

becoming children more obese than past (Films Media Group, 2011). This percentage increase

can adversely affect their rest of life when they grow up to adults. This news report also focuses

on the efforts of people of community to redress this serious issue.

There was introduced a community based program to teach parents that how the can

combat obesity. In this program there were taken more than 150 parents and their children

voluntarily from different areas of community. About 92% of the children were obese and

among them 50% were morbidly obese (United States, 2010). For a period of 6 months these

children have been provided 24/7 face to face sessions, where physical activities, their style of

living, eating & drinking habits as well as lifestyles have been examined. This program resulted

into a 10% reduction of obesity among children who were discussed at the start. I believe if

communities all over the America try to implement this program, it would ultimately lead to 10%

potential decrease of obese children in the country. Although, it is not as effective as clinical

treatment, nevertheless, it’s much cost effective and feasible way of reducing obesity among

children.

Now, the question arises why this news article is so effective to create healthy impact on

the reader. As, it stated previously, that obesity is considered as an epidemic in American

communities, that has adversely effects many individuals in the country. The information

provided in this news article is very helpful for those individuals who do not want to be obese
