EMPLOYEES VOICE 2
Facebook Vent against Supervisor Not Grounds for Firing
What is at issue in this Facebook case?
The major issue in this Facebook case is the company, ambulance service American
Medical Response, which has terminated its employees over violating the company policy that
deals with the protection of rights at workplaces. The firm receives numerous complaints against
employee, Dawn Marie Souza, over her unethical attitudes towards customers and it forces firm
to issue the termination letter against her.
The company despite of solid arguments makes it clear Dawn Marie Souza has been
indulged in spreading the unethical and derogatory remarks against its supervisor who is just
supposed to be 17, a jargon used at workplaces. The labor court in its judgment makes it clear that
Dawn Marie Souza has been terminated illegally and company has violated the labor rules of
employees.
The labor court in its judgment further clarifies that using the social sites is public property
and hence no derogatory remarks posted by Dawn Marie Souza has been found on the sites. Hence,
in its judgment, court also makes clear that firm has been involved in an illegal action against
Dawn Marie Souza on some personal reason of some managers at workplace. The court also
clarifies that it is the right of employees or individual to have freedom of expression about any
issues or matter whether it pertains to workspaces or its internal issues.
