Being the HR director in the multinational firm, my top most priority would be to win the
confidence of employees towards the organizational tasks. All organization faces many adverse
dilemmas in market that can cause to stall the performance of organization. Incidents like
recessions and other climate change also impact on the efficiency of organization. So, HR
director must have greater know-how about all kinds of unforeseen incidents and should device
in return a sophisticated mechanism for addressing these issues.
How a recession affects a union’s ability to strike and win concessions from corporate
management:
In the recession time, almost all firms have to shut down their business activities and start
reducing the size of staff accordingly. Usually there is a huge role of union in the development of
organization as well as prosperity of employees where employees’ concerns are addressed
through amicable ways. Overall a union reduces the differences between the administration and
employees at workplaces. Thus a union is strongly affected because of the recession. Union
losses its credibility during that time and doesn’t perform well. On the other side, management
does not pay attention to any strike initiated by union for any purpose rather it closes the door for
union to contribute at the time of strike (Miller, G.R., 2004).
Usually at the time of recession, union fails to win the concession from corporate
management and there is no such law that can help members of union to claim on the concession.
