People of Appalachian and Arab Heritage
Overview
Appalachian are people who originated from the Appalachian mountain range. Their
Heritage is founded from Scotland, Ireland, England, France, as well as Germany. Years ago, the
Appalachian people came to the U.S seeking better economic opportunities and freedom of
religion. However, when they came to the United States, they decided to isolate themselves in
the Appalachian Mountains and continued to practice their cultural beliefs (Fairclough et al.,
2016). The mountain consists of different diversity of cultures, which comprises of 25 million
people in 420 countries in thirteen states. Appalachian regions are a system of mountainous
terrain that stretches the far Eastern North America to the Southern Tier of New York. A central
trait of the Appalachian people is that they are typically white, rural folk, and blue collar
workers. It generally comprises of white who are descendants of early Welsh settlers, Scotch-
Irish, Scottish, Irish, and English or African-American (Fairclough et al., 2016).
On the other hand, people of Arab Heritage are an ethnic group of the culture of Arabs
inhabiting the Arab nation from the Atlantic Ocean in the east from the Mediterranean Sea to the
Arabian Sea. The Arabs originated from 22 countries which were joined together by a common
language which is Arabic. Generally, Muslim, Arabism, and Islam share some culturally and
traditionally believe and values (Purnell & Fenkl, 2019). Typically, Arabs have a diverse cultural
Heritage in terms of ethnicity, religion, as well as political standing.
Similarities of Delivery of Healthcare Beliefs of Appalachian and Arab Heritage
Both Arabs and Appalachian heritage people are affected by the high rate of smoking
among people. Additionally, these two ethnic groups are impacted by almost similar illnesses
such as diabetes, obesity, and cancer, among others (Purnell & Fenkl, 2019). Both the Arabs and
Appalachian Heritage eat meat as their source of proteins for their bodies. In both cases,
