Why New Zealand Govt. Prevent Walmart to Settle Up in Auckland
Part I: Ethics Guidelines
The general guidelines that are associated with the research on why the New Zealand
government prevented Walmart from settling up in Auckland include;
a) Informed Consent
The research fully incorporated into the research. The human subjects involved in the
research were involved by freewill without any cohesion. The requirements and details of the
research were clearly spelt out for the potential candidates according to Maori (2009, p. 2). This
was done to ensure that they agreed to be involved in a research they had sufficient
understanding and information. The candidates were also offered a chance to withdraw from the
research with reassurances that no adverse consequences followed. Their anonymity and privacy
was preserved throughout the research. This information is also communicated to the subjects.
b) Justice and Dignity
Justice and dignity was offered to both subjects involved in the research. Other than
hearing from the government authorities which were responsible for denying Walmart the chance
to open stores, a fair hearing was given to the store officers. This ensured that none of the
individual group was wrongly accused and disadvantaged by the findings of the research. The
study stuck this balance to ensure that the research was accurate and unbiased.
