The delivery of government services through online platforms represents e-government services.
These kinds of services promote how the government is able to stretch towards reaching every
citizen and government employees. On the one hand, e-government services help in promoting
efficient services, on the other hand, it helps in the empowerment of citizens through the
provision of information that is necessary to their growth in the different fields they serve (Al-
Jenaibi, 2015). E-government services makes sure the government operations are streamlined
through change and the interpretation of services that are important for better approaches. United
Arab Emirates has embraced e-government services through innovations and sets very high
approaches towards the creating government services efficiencies and trust (Al-Jenaibi, 2015).
At the same time, the UAE government leaders have set priorities in innovation and has taken
the initiative to ensure every citizen has access to smart services on a daily basis. Despite the fact
that UAE has been on the top of the world with great innovations for smart governance, there are
still some of the populations that has not gotten the full grasp of how these services operate.
Piecowye (2008) shows that United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai has been consistent in the
innovation of smart services to help improve the customer-based services. The leadership in the
United Arab Emirates has promoted the consistent growth of Dubai in the e-government services
provision. However, there have been challenges that the country has faced through the efforts to
improve the e-government services and that gives the country a chance to improve on their
service delivery options. The challenges have shaped the e-government implementation
strategies since the countries take up the challenges as lessons for improvement. Piecowye
(2008) has highlighted some of the challenges that the United Arab Emirates faces as they strive
to provide smart services. For instance, being slow, uneven in nature and challenges in terms of
the adaptability in the fast-changing world. All countries in the world that have been immersed in
implementing the e-government have challenges since there is a lot of dynamic changes that are
happening in the world. However, Dubai has not been stuck with the challenges rather it has
made amendments on the budget, bureaucracy and institutional changes that have helped the
country adapt to the changes. The phenomenon changes that have happened in UAE have made
Dubai to have the capacity to expand and accommodate the changes needed in the day-to-day
activities of smart services. Therefore, the level of prosperity Dubai is experiencing is due to the
drift into the e-government, thus offering the best services towards customer approach as
improvement of government service experience.
