Describe indicators you can use to identify a phishing email

Phishing is form of cyber attack where target is contacted through an email (Alsharnouby et

al., 2015) . There are different way to indentify the indicators of the Phishing, they include:

• Generic greetings: the scammers use generic greeting since they aren’t aware the name of

the emails recipient.

• The emails often requires urgent responses: The most of the phishing emails uses urgency

to make the recipient act quickly on the offers, without taking proper caution of the

action.

• Contains fraudulent links: the emails normally entail a link that recipient should click so

as to lure the recipient in attempting to try the website (Alsharnouby et al., 2015). Often

the links are spoofed.

• Use of incorrect addresses that are slightly similar to official company address, but they

are misspelled. Scammers use similar addresses close to the official company.

Importance of Employee be Aware of the Phishing Attempts

Phishing is cybercrime that scammers use to target organization through an email. The

objective phishing objective is to help scammer or con artist to access company private

information. Therefore, it is essential that employees are made aware of the phishing attempts to

ensure that company’s data and information is protected (Gupta et al., 2017). Thus, lack o the

protection implies that organization will become a victim of cyber attack. Therefore, employees

should on high alert on about the phishing emails.
