DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 2
Introduction
It is essential to note that customers are the fuel that drives, or in other words, keeps any
business up and running. If it occurs that an organization is not properly managing its customers,
then everything starts to fall. Customer service management is highly recognized as any tool or
technique that is, to a great extent, utilized to collect customer data and to offer what is termed as
a better user client experience. On the other hand, order management refers to the process of
efficiently tracking and also fulfilling sales orders. It is essential to remember that this process
begins the moment a client places an order, keeps track of that particular order and ends when it
is fulfilled. In the current competitive world, it becomes of great significance for businesses to
change and ensure that they transform themselves in order to survive. The following paragraphs
focus on answering some questions that help to understand more about order management,
customer services, as well as other ideas in supply chain management.
Question 1
It is essential to realize that how a business acquires or in other words receives an order,
how it fills this specific order and how this business ships the order are highly determined by
how the business manages an order. On the other side, customer service refers to anything that
touches the consumer. It comprises of the various activities that impact product flow, data flow
as well as cash flow between the business and its consumers (Brady, & Cronin Jr, 2001, P. 241).
In this case, customer service can be explained as performance measures, a philosophy, or even
as an activity. When it comes to viewing customer service as a philosophy, it something that
moves customer service to what is termed as a business-wide commitment hence offering client
gratification through superior customer service. It is essential to note that most businesses utilize
all three descriptions of customer service as far as their order management process is concerned.
